PRP for Hair Loss

Eclipse PRP for Hair Loss Glenn Dale MD

What is PRP FOR HAIR LOSS?

PRP is the latest innovation for hair restoration. Surgical hair restoration is an expensive procedure that does not treat your underlying medical problems. PRP, or Platelet-Rich Plasma, is a non-surgical procedure that consists of injections into the scalp of your own platelets.

How does Platelet-Rich Plasma work?

PRP contains healing growth factors that allow tissue to regenerate and therefore multiply. These injections increase blood supply to hair follicles and also improve thickness.

Benefits of PRP

  • Simple: Fewer steps than other PRP (platelet-rich plasma) systems, and completed within 30 minutes.
  • Fast: We are able to centrifuge with a single spin in a matter of minutes.
  • Patient Friendly: A small volume of blood is required for the treatment.

Am I a candidate for HAIR RESTORATION WITH PRP?

If you suffer from any of the following conditions listed below, PRP could be a great option to help restore hair loss.

  • Androgenic Alopecia
  • Traction Alopecia
  • Female Pattern Hair Loss

Androgenetic alopecia is a common condition in both men and women. For men, this is commonly known as male-pattern baldness. Hair is lost in a well-defined pattern, often progressing to partial or complete baldness. In women, this condition leads to overall thinner hair all over the head without the effects of a receding hair line.

Traction alopecia is the gradual hair loss attributed to a pulling force applied on the hair. This can be due to frequent hair pulling styles such as tight ponytails, pigtails, or braids. If you find yourself relating to any of these conditions, PRP can directly treat your problem areas.

PRP Treatment FOR HAIR LOSS

In the specific case of alopecia, we are able to inject high concentrations of your own growth factors into the affected area. By doing so, these growth factors are now able to repair the damaged skin in the scalp area. It also promotes increased follicle activity to achieve healthy and strong hair follicles.

How long does the PRP treatment take?

PRP utilizes your own body’s platelets which we collect before injection. Collecting the platelets usually takes between 10 and 15 minutes. After this, the actual treatment only takes about 3-5 minutes with no downtime.

Do PRP Injections hurt?

Dr. Callender recommends local anesthesia to ensure your comfort during the procedure.
