What is CoolSculpting?
CoolSculpting was developed by a pair of Harvard scientists originally studying the effect of eating popsicles on the development of dimples in children. It turned out the cold killed the fat cells and created dimples, which appear when there is an absence of fat in the cheeks. From there, the scientists decided to apply the same thinking to fat pockets in adults. CoolSculpting was the result.
The concept behind CoolSculpting is simple — fat cells freeze at a higher temperature than other tissue cells, so deliver controlled freezing into targeted fat pockets and kill the fat cells while leaving the surrounding tissue undamaged. This freezing crystallizes 20 to 25 percent of the fat cells in the treated area. Those cells die and are flushed from the body naturally.

How does CoolSculpting work?
In a CoolSculpting session, a member of our team positions the CoolSculpting panels over the treatment area. The panels then deliver light suction to the skin and underlying tissue, drawing the skin and underlying fat up between two cooling panels. Next, the temperature is set to the freezing point of the fat cells, and this controlled degree of cooling is delivered into the tissue between the panels. The fat cells are crystallized and gradually die, and the body flushes them away using the lymphatic system. Once those fat cells are gone, the remaining fat cells condense into a thinner fat layer. We repeat this process several times across the target area to cover it entirely.
