Back to School: How to Get Your Kid’s Skin Ready for Picture Day

Whether you like it or not, your junior high and high school pictures are going to haunt you for the rest of forever. And while those braces and that perm may have been a good idea back then, that acne may keep you wondering why your parents didn’t get you acne treatment. To help save your kids from the embarrassment of junior high and high school photos past, this article will take a closer look at a few ways you can ensure that their skin is looking their best.

Get Their Acne Under Control

Hormones are real when your kids are in junior high and high school. Acne is just one of the many changes that your child’s body may be going through, and it can leave them feeling really self-conscious in their own skin. Before school starts, bring your child into our office for an examination. During the exam, we will take a closer look at their skin, their skin type, and the type of acne that they have. Then, from there, we will be able to determine how we can get their acne under control. Typically, we can control hormonal acne with a combination of oral medication and topical creams; all of which we will discuss during their appointment.

Get them Into Good Habits

In addition to getting your child on prescription strength acne medication, also try to get them into good habits. Habits like regular face washing, regular hand washing before they touch their face, and using facial products as recommended will help give them huge improvements. If your child plays after school sports or takes gym, make sure that you send them to school with cleansing wipes. Cleaning wipes are an easy and effective way to help your child get rid of dirt, oil, and sweat after running around all afternoon.

Help your child get skin that they are proud enough to take school pictures with. To learn more, contact our Glenn Dale office today and call us at 301.249.0970.
