The One Resolution Everyone Should Make

Skin Cancer Resolution Glenn Dale MDAlthough you can make an extremely long list of resolutions you hope to achieve in 2018, make sure that you narrow your list down to ones that you’ll stick to and that you’ll benefit from the most. If you’re going to make one and only one New Year’s resolution this year, make it wear sunscreen every day.

Skin Cancer

According to skincncer.org, it is estimated that nearly 90,000 people were diagnosed with skin cancer in 2017. As a common form of cancer, skin cancer can not only be easily treated if it’s caught early on but it can also be easily prevented by either staying out of the sun altogether or wearing sunscreen.

Wearing Sunscreen for Prevention

It may sound a bit excessive to some people to think of wearing sunscreen everyday. This is especially true during the cold winter months when you spend the majority of your days cooped up inside. However, your skin is just as likely to get sun exposure on a cloudy day than on a sunny day. You are exposing your skin to the sun just by sitting next to a window or driving a car.

When we say you should be wearing a sunscreen every day, we don’t mean that you have to head out the door looking like a white ghost because you’re slathered in so much sunscreen. In fact, wearing a daily face moisturizer with sunscreen in it is one of the best ways to go. All you have to do is apply it to your hands, neck, and face and you’re good to go.

Don’t be one of the millions who make a New Year’s resolution then quit just a few weeks in. To learn more about how you can take better care of your skin or to take our resolution challenge, contact Callender Cosmetic and Dermatology Center today!
