Get the Deets On CoolSculpting

Valerie D. Callender MD | Callender Dermatology & Cosmetic Center | Glenn Dale, MDIt used to be that the only way for you to lose excess, stubborn fat was either to either, a) starve yourself, or b) get liposuction. If you would have told your mother 20 years ago that you could get rid of that fat without having to do either of those things she probably would have laughed in your face (thanks mom). With CoolSculpting, we can actually freeze away your fat without you having to go under the knife. Sounds too good to be true, right? Let’s take a closer look at some of the details of CoolSculpting to hopefully answer some of your questions.

How Does It Work?

When people hear that we can get rid of their stubborn excess fat without having to undergo surgery, they think we are lying. CoolSculpting allows us to actually freeze your fat cells. Once your fat cells have reached a certain cooling temperature, it causes them to slough off and then they are naturally excreted by your body.

How Long Does It Take?

The only real tradeoff with Coolsculpting is that it takes a little bit of time for your body to actually excrete the fat cells. On average, patients tend to see results in as little as 2-7 weeks and then they see the full results in about 3-4 months.

What Can It Treat?

Right now, Coolsculpting is approved to treat fat on the abdomen, buttocks, upper thighs, love handles, and arms.

How Many Sessions Will I Need?

Depending on how much fat you have and the area that we are treating, we may recommend that you get multiple treatments. During your initial consultation with us, we will be able to give you a better idea of how many treatments you will need.

If you are ready to get rid of that excess fat that is driving you batty then schedule an appointment with us at our Glenn Dale office and call 301.249.0970.
