Wax on, Wax off: How to Prepare for Your First Waxing Appointment
- Posted on: May 15 2018
If you are sick and tired of shaving but have never tried your hand at waxing, then you are in for a treat. Here at Callender Cosmetic and Dermatology Center, we offer our patients a variety of waxing services to help them get rid of unwanted hair, save time every morning, get rid of razor bumps, and say goodbye the overall hassle of shaving. But if you are new to the waxing world, you may not know exactly how to prepare for your appointment. Here are a few helpful tips.
Exfoliate Lightly
Whether you are having your legs, bikini area, back, or any other part of your body waxed, make sure to gently and lightly exfoliate before your appointment. The exfoliation will help loosen the hair follicle and make it easier for the wax to grasp the hair.
Don’t Shave
Yes, it may sound gross or weird to not shave for a few days or even a week before you get professionally waxed, but you want your hair to be about an eighth of an inch to a quarter inch long before your waxing appointment— this will give us enough hair for the wax to grasp onto without you having to grow it out too much.
Watch the Sun
We don’t recommend that our patients spend too much time outside in the sun— regardless of whether or not they are getting waxed— but especially before you get waxed. The last thing you want is to come into our office with sunburned skin. Try staying out of the sun for a few days before your waxing appointment.
Getting professionally waxed is a great way to temporarily get rid of unwanted hair. If you want to schedule your waxing appointment, contact our Glenn Dale office today and call: 301.249.0970.
